Sophie random thoughts.... I found a 'real' CD of "Dive" (via a place in Italy) - it arrived Monday... diving deeper has found something new in every listen in the last ten days.....your "ok" at the beginning of Lewes should be bottled. I'll buy a case ot it.... to connect back to another singer/songwriter , the Apollinaire track fits in nicely..... I've thought that Apollinaire's style & surreal imagery must have been a source for dylan's tarantula - though I will admit to never being able to read a whole page at a time of tarantula yet .. maybe someday..... moving into the Cowshed..... the whole EP is a very strong one - nice afternoon's work! the background on the last track doesn't quite fit, but all very good songs.... the other CDs await their turn for serious listening..... "Accept" has some lovely & intense tracks ... no need to respond.... "just thought I'd mention" stuff Bill

Hallo Sophie,

excuse me please for my late answer. I love your music, so i am interested on
new music from you.
Here my answer to your questions:
1.) I like all your music, but the first time I discovered it, was when I heard
the CD "DIVE".
2.) On the packaging of CDs I prefare photos which show an astonishing scene, a
snapshot of life. The picture/photo must be strange, a eyecatcher.
3.) Sorry, but I do not know enough about the people/musicians you worke with.
4.) Your last questions I don`t understand exactly. I live in Buehl, a little
town in southern Germany. In Buehl and
around there are a lot of little guest-houses and hotels to spend some nights
here. There are also same good possibilities (artist-pups) to presend your
music in a nice atmosphere to an exquisite audience. If you think you will
visit the South-West of Germany some time, please contact me to find such
localities.

Thank you for your music. I wait for your new CD

Michael

My favorite collaboration is in the 15th song of trust. This song is
GREAAAAT. I also liked "Love has come again" with Human movement a lot. And
the guy that is singing with you in god of fire has really a voice that get
along with yours.

My favorite album is Accept I think, and for the song: "this is like" from
trust, "Geneve " and "god and fire" from dive. I liked a lot of other songs
but this are the one that came to me first.

I hoped this mail is not too long but u asked a lot of question...

Once again good luck and keep faith your music is so powerfull.
cedric

and for you question
for me "trust" and the intimity it relises is the best,
I like home production,
and otherwise artwork,
colours and mayabe soft handdrawings....inspired with a text...love,nature

sibila

dear sophie
bad at tests here
always found them intriguing and captivating, always wanted to do them
then been frustrated each time because there was no room for what i had
to say
i don't fit in squares ;-)
so
i love your music, i love the songs involving the piano solo because they speak to my soul directly, i love "chapel" and "hold me", i have written a text untitled "hold me" because it mentions you and this song and the film jean-pierre was supposed to make about it (and did not but it was okay as he made others bla bla bla told you i did not fit anywhere lol), i have met you through the inrockuptibles in france and "10X2" and immediately knew your music would talk to me, i have written to someone in paris fnac to know if he knew where you could perform there, i want you to come back to europe, to tour again, i wanna have the chance to see you live, at last, and hear new stuffs, i'm so glad you had sent me the link to harenstam band site because it allowed me to buy the cd and listen to "willow patterns" (one could understand that this collaboration is the one i love best), i love your little drawings, i love jean-pierre pictures, i love my writing and i love collaborations, so i think anything could suit your public as long as there is heart involved and knowing you, anyone can feel that (he)art is what you're dealing with
with love and trust
talkative lo.

to Sophie Moleta in reply to the questionaire.

1 The Cowshed, the live recording at Lille, Trust, Dive.
2 The Dive style. Could all the texts/lyrics be printed?
3 The cellist in Dive.
4 Perth has venues that you know.

much love,
Dad, a big fan

Questions

1 - I will answer your question after i listen more of your works, anyway it will be hard to choose one album or a song.
For now i can say: - your album "Dive" is a masterpiece and i realy like "Trust", if i had to choose a song now,
it will be "10x2" but i will let you now more after i listen to my new CD's...

2 - About packaging, i like to read lyrics, as my english is far of perfect, it may be very helpfull. Why not some nice painting or pics ?
Maybe a DVD track showing you in tour or in recording session or interview ?

3 - For collaboration i realy like "Widerstreit" with David Lynch

4 - There is no venue in my city but we have a nice concert hall (a few hundred places) easy to rent from the city hall.
I know there is a music festival near my city in summer; this is for various styles of music so it might be OK.
One of my good friends organize music festivals in the south of France and he is always looking for artists, why not you?

I realy think your music have a place in this world, i'm bored of business music that you can ear everytimes you turn on the radio,
i would like to ear more artists like you, making something more personal and intimate, please don't change anything.

If i can help you...here in France, i will do.

Take care

Lionel.

Hello Sophie,
Here are some quick answers :

1
Album : i only know Dive... i'm waiting for an opportunity to buy the other ones (but for now your website seems to be down).

2
Artwork : something using strange photographs, strangely blurred ones, drawings, kinky neo-pop-art computer graphics... just anything is fine by me as long as it's good and/or interesting enough.

3
Collaboration : the collab work with Diego Bosco was really great !!!

4
As for touring, i wonder wether it would be possible for you to be touring in France... anyway, i don't know the venues around here well enough to give you some valuable advice, but there is the Centre Culturel Oecumenique (better known as the CCO) in Villeurbanne (zip code 69100, near Lyon), and maybe the Ninkasi Kao and/or the Ninkasi Café (the second one is smaller) but i'm not sure they would be interested in your kind of music... and then maybe a place called Les Subsistances (in Lyon), but i'm not sure. Then I guess that there are a few pubs and other small places, but i don't really know them.
If you do come back around here in France, i'll make sure to be there... and if it's around Lyon, i'll make sure to drag as much people as i can (let's say ten because i cannot promise more... unless i draw, edit, print and distribute flyers by myself :-)

Good luck and take care
Thanks for you music

Florent

1 What album ,songs of mine do you like best?

stained pink stone for the songs right now

2 What kind of artwork would you like to see as
packaging for my cds?
(artwork and packaging is an area im trying to get
on top of)

anything but computered drawnings
and the plastic boxthings stink as well
maybe this:
some nice cardboard box-foldable-thingie
with artwork chosen and or made by(inspired
within-out)your sonic toddlers
3 Which collab work do you like best of mine (ie the
artists i have worked with?)
some of the cowritten songs
sthfor a play i think it was
not:the disco-thing

Dear Sophie,

It is good to hear from you. Of course there is room for your music ! If there were no place for your music in this world then there would be something more to worry about !

1) As an album I would say that Dive is the one that I like the most. For a song I would say "art for art's sake" or "Octave War",a difficult choice as there are many beautiful songs of yours !

2) Music sheets, drawings, photographs,

3) i liked the work with Marc Mitchell, quite interesting !

4) In Paris ? of course ! Tell me if I can help you somehow in finding a gig out here. If you plan it in advance (6 months to 1 year before !) you can find some really good gigs outside Paris in beautiful venues. In Berlin you could play at B-flat, at Pfefferbeg or at kulturbrauerei

thanks for your music

Ludwig

Y la noche se funde con el día,
y los recuerdos se alejan distantes
rumiando entre los valles, contagiando
los suspiros humanos, volviendo hadas
a los ogros y cantando: he aquí mi voz,
he aquí su voz que arrulla las tormentas,
alimenta tempestades de otoño y vuela
cuando todas las hojas caen en seco viento.

Y la noche se funde con el día,
y las teclas del piano azul se despiden de
nuevo y dan las gracias por una nota más;
por ser piano azul en alas blancas, que
duerme entre las hierbas mortales, por ser
él, el mensajero de ella, por callar
cuando el amor grita, por tener alas,
y nacer cuando ella suspira…

My message: (excuse my english, i'm french)
I've just discovered your song 10*2 for few days...
Your song, your voice, the way you sing following the piano's sad melody with
real emotion, touch me so strong. I believe in you, and i will look for your
discs. Stéphane Herzog

My message: Hi Sophie !
We met in Geneva and Lausanne (with my wife Sandrine)a few years ago... and had
contact with you by mail. Actually, I wondered if you planned to go back to
Switzerland sometimes... I'm now the "director" of the Undertown, which is a
club near Geneva, so I would be very interested !
Thanks for your feedback !
Best wishes

Hello Sophie
I was listen reading some philosophy stuff when I've heard on radio your "Ten times two". It was a reading in aim to write a discussion about: "Evil can be wanted?"
Believe me, it's not a simple problem.
But, lost in my thoughts, your music appeared and, in a first time, relaxes me. And then, I thought it was very pleasant to listen to the sound of your music, the piano and your voice, without any technical procedures which could always cover, at best, a pretty voice, and at less, a lack of talent. This time too believe me, I try to play music too and I know how hard it is to find a good singer who can sing without any effect.
I heard you before playing a Steinway in France Inter office some of your song.
It was a very rare moment of full sweetness and I would thank you for that. Because what I like to hear in music, whatever it comes from, it's this taste of honesty which leak out of its vibrations.
And I heard this in your music.
So I hope see you "Live in France" or on some new music air very soon.
SEE YOU...
lowkey

Salut, j'ai été touché par l'écoute d'une de tes chansons, et j'apprends que tu te terres au fin fond de l'Australie ne voulant plus chanter... à notre plus grand regret.Allez...reviens-nous quoi!
Sylvain

heard your track with the line 'kiss me sweetheart 10 x 2' on JJJ a couple of years ago - It went straight to my heart. Heard it again on JJJ 6 months later and - tears - pulled over the car and rang my husband - 'turn on the radio!' You've touched me deeply with your music. Must have asked at a dozen different record shops over the last 2 years and asking for 'Dive' - then triedall the differnt spellings of Moleta on the web - amazon - etc - finally struck it lucky tonight. I read about your struggle with the recording company.Strength and peace to you. From the sound of your MP3 files on the website ithas far from stopped you...... I look forward to your new work. Each step can heal.
Blessings
Ani

i miss your songs. i'm lost in indonesia without records of you... what can i do as sooner is possible

so happy you have a copy of TRUST for me. it's amazing to know that people can't buy your cds in France. There should be thousands and thousands of copies, so that people can discover your talent. thank you very much
Alex (Lille)

Hello! I'm french and I love your music...And I would like to play your songs on piano, so is it possible to have sheet music? Sorry for my english...and thanks for answer me! I hope to see you soon in France
Fleur

You are my favorite singer, but i can't explain you because i speak english like a cow. I want to buy Trust but i don't no how to do. I'd like it to my christmas ! My favorite gift ! Can you explain me ? Thank you and thank you for your songs, they live in me

Your concert in Denmark last week was just wonderful and touched me deep in my heart. Thank you! It's so good to discover your music and deep/soulful lyrics. You are a very special person and I'm looking forward to see your concert next Friday in Fremantle. Ciao
Andreas

By the way, your "Dark Star" made me very happy and I was wonderin if you'reaware of how much Dark Star means to all Grateful Dead-Fanatics. Your Dark Star is completely different, but it also touches something deep within. Which is just wonderful. And that's what it's all about. In India people would say "Samesame but different." Anyway, I put you the lyrics...
Dark Star : Dark star crashes, pouring its light into ashes. Reason tatters, the forces tear loose from the axis. Searchlight casting for faults in the clouds of delusion. Shall we go, you and I while we can Through the transitive nightfall of diamonds? Mirror shatters in formless reflections of matter. Glass hand dissolving to ice petal flowers revolving. Lady in velvet recedes in the nights of goodbye. Shall we go, you and I while we can Through the transitive nightfall of diamonds?
from Switzerland

You have a beautiful voice, my favorite track right now is your "love has come again" I have tried to locate the lyrics online and have had no luck, I was wondering if you could help me locate them, I can't understand all the words and I want to know what you are singing about. I would so appreciate it if you could help me with this. Keep on singing and hit those high notes ;)
Rick

Hello, I discovered 'Dive' on the french broadcast from Bernard Lenoir and was quite disappointed not hearing anything since but I just discovered that the story is not finished.
How can the other album be bought in France ?
Thanks and regards
Carl (Grenoble)

Bonjour Sophie, just some words to tell you I'm enjoying some of your demos downloaded from the web while the sun rises slowly and I'm waiting for my train to Marseille...
Carl (in Valence)

hello !
i live in Lille,France and i saw you at the Aeronef (oct 2000). it was a very special moment to and my friends. They didn't know you and we were so touched that we often talk of this moment.THANK YOU for your sensibility, your music... take care.
excuse my english...
Mathieu

I just wanted to thank you for helping me get through areally tough2001. Thanks for Love has Come again so much!
Jeffrey

...for the wild dark bleeding flower of the red earth land. Wishing her path to be correct and loving. I always will ask for you, after some time has passed.
B

Dear sophie,
thanks, first of all, for informing me about the interview. I actually was blessed to be able to listen to most of it. Once again, I was deeply touchedand moved by your accounts regarding such vital soul, love, family, music, will, passion and the total unbearable lightness of being. It was puzzling but also re-assuring sensation to find that the "message" that your music radiates is also in your words (or is it the other way round?) anyway. It's from one individual and golden source! I also perceive my art (and any art from the inside) as healing work. That's why it's important to become and remain a "warrior of light" (Paulo Coelhe).
Well, I keep this short as I also respect that you are already being over-exposed to "public" attention and it's important to protect oneself to a good extent even if "others" absolutely want to share something with you.
So just be there, be brave and keep loving and sharing.
Christoph

bonjour,
the following text was written after your show case at fnac montparnasse (in 2000?):

Today a voice that sings out of the blue self of others has mended the thin cloth of our reason.
I walked slowly home in order to feel and measure the
neighbourhood.
Jean-Pierre

hmm...
beautiful sistar!!
kids in our life makes us remember all the important stuff,
like bubbles and dinosaurs, been going through yucky muchy shit by myself...
but I remembered there was your music,
I have been listening to it,
over and over again,
big healing, and all your stuff with holmes,
and something has shifted again,
thank you...
your music is so magic and healing,
I know yo imbue it with such intention of love...
and I remember that "in the end there is onlylove..."
love and stars of warmth and light to you and your
ocean hideaway of beauty horizon...
Love, Monique
Monique

now it's not so easy to write on calmly and in a factual style, as in turn YOUR music has deeply touched and affected me. i feel such a strong mission, such mystic energy, sublime soulful music radiating through your singing and playing that i can hardly find adequate words to express that "properly" but i think you will understand me anyway...
Christoph

Just to support you for your third album, i can't wait for it!!! Your music is wonderfull !
Cédric

My message: Malachi, c'est la grâce... Je t'embrasse

But mostly, I wanted to say thank-you from the bottom of my impatient heart for the song Stay Gold--
ruth

hello my daughter looks for partitions for piano of your songs where can I find them ?
patrice

I've discovered, your second album yesterday. I love Tori Amos, a friend of mine told me about a Sophie Moleta singing quite the same way Amazing, already mad about Dive
odette

Is it true that I contact this girl with all the humanity in her voice? Thanks Life that you have done a career of singer, so I can taste a little bit of it, and thanks you for having the strength to have this sensibility. I really feel sorry of what the french production company has done with yourfirst contract and hope them to understand what it is for an artist to express.
pierre

I had orginally come to your site to say thank-you--for two reasons firstbecause my mother used to play 10X2 and other Hungarian songs endlessly at ourpiano and you reminded me happily of home. But mostly, I wanted to say thank-you from the bottom of my impatient heart forthe song Stay Gold--
ruth

Hi Sophie, how can I get a copy of your album "Dive" in Perth?
kirsten

i heard your music on jjj the australian youth radio station and was so moved I imediately came to this site.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR MUSIC
michael

I've only heard the track 'Dive' once - a few weeks ago on Artery - I was lying in a darkened room with headphones on, and your music blew me away. Thanks.
alex

I don't know what it was about that song that has really got to me, I have only heard it once and that one time I was half asleep and heard only half the song but I was just touched by it.
tony

Your music is angelic!! I've been waiting for an Australian release for AGES, I guess beaurocracy gets in the way again huh?
sarah

dad

The kettle is on always, and the horses can be saddled at any time.
ruth

I only want to say "thank you" for your wonderful LP...It was a "shock" when I first heard you on the radio. I was on the phone and I was also listening to a french rock program called Bernard Lenoir (France Inter) and suddenly I heard nothing but your voice : so full of emotion, with an strange atmosphere of rain and despair. I was thinking of images of rainy town and lonely characters like some in the ridley scott's film "bladerunner"...
alain

Its late and I'm tired, but I have your Dive CD playing for the first time and DO YOU THINK I CAN SLEEP??!!! No chance! I'm awake with my goose bumps, loving hearing and feeling your music wash through my room and fill my heart with such warmth. Thankyou for following your dreams which will touch so many people with a gentle hand of compassion and emotion which is so rare in this world now. Beauty is a feeling and you have captured it. You're a gift.
ghislane

Could u tell me where to find the lyrics of trust'songs . Thanks for being

g

Eveytime I listen your white session on my old tape player I'm forgetting all my problem.....It's like an escape. That's why I would like to thank you for all this music and all the things you put into ...I cannot understand everything ...I mean I do understand your words , but sometimes I feel myself so far away from the ideas behind the words......Anyway I love to dive in your world of beauty and sensitivity. keep on writing songs
Tony

I just want to say thank you. All the songs are marvellous, fantastic... It bring us to the dream's world, to a sweet world... Thank you for all the magic moment and take your time to make your next album. I'm very hurry to listen it but it has to be also unreal and stiring that "Dive"... Thanks so much again...

Can you possibly help me out somehow in ordering your new album?

I am writing from Perth, Western Australia and have recently heard a numberof your latest works on RTR FM. RTR also played a recording of an interview you gave and I recall that you mentioned that you were having difficulties with the supply of your latest album. been listening to you this morning like I do, sometimes your voice never far away the piano echoing inside me sometimes, I think : write lyrics, she'll play and song them sometimes, I think : words and music mine and yours but your words are important -as mine are and apollinaire's as my own music is, the one echoing from my words within the books been listening to you this morning was a strange morning everything seemed possible as it is love
lo.

did you know i made a painting from the photos i took of you? yes, it hangs on my wall, and everyone says, "who is that girl??". so you know i think of you. your beautiful, powerful spirit will survive many challenges, of that i am certain. this is nothing..
lori

i'm not sure if you actually understand french language, so i'm writing in english form. I just wanted to let you know i very much enjoyed your album Dive. This is a stunning piece of music art. Now, i'm looking out for your first record Trust but i can't find it anywhere. Is it possible for you to have it send to me ? If so, thank you so very much. Are you currently recording a new album ? daniel

some artists really exist! lots of people love you! the kind of fans that will always think about you and follow your carrear. well maybe commercially speaking we're not very very numerous so almost insignificant but our idol is a genious. hope you'll be back soon. thanks for the beautiful unique true music you've already performed. all my respect
post scriptum you're not attending any festival or something in europe in summer? (australia is a bit tooo far for a concert).
mariem

fred

Topic: When will we see you back in france? hello dear sophie, i'm a super new fan (a real fan i mean) unfortunately i've just discovered you ( better now than never) so i have never attended any of your concerts yet. i won't waste your time longer i bet thousands of people say to you the same things every day. well i've visited sophiemoleta.com but i just can't believe you're not doing any concerts here or wherever before september? and the dates according to my friends who, lucky them, attended your concerts said the dates written are the same as last year? i hope i'm mistaken and that i will be able to see you before september! by the way , it's just an idea why don't you put a kind of "forum" on sophiemoleta.com in order to let us fans express and talk with each other to have the information faster about your concerts or the festivals that you might attend! all my respect
mao

dear sophie, i want to send you my support in that hardship and absurd situation of tradersmen who confused art and money and money again! i know you have to find the way to free your art cause your music is real and deep and we have to ear it the sooner as possible, i love so much your song about that situation: artforartssake; i don't know if you remember me but i meet you in a festival in france at sediere, you have played on a stage in a grange; after your very toutching and beautifull concert i came to speak to you and we speak about music and life and hard moments to live and i feeled better near you , i asked you if i could send you my demo cd cause i made music and you said yes , i m sorry because i didn't send it to you but it was a hope for me to know it was possible; please don't give up and be sure we wait for you and your art; with affection and encouragement xx
virginie

Thank you for your singing..it's like music from another world..
laurent

thank you so much for your wonderful work. I didn't know nothing about you before a week ago. I discover(e)d "Dive" and this album touched me, especially "Dive", 'cause I found in this song something about my life, about myself... and that's that kind of feelings that makes you feel better (sometimes more sad but it's a part of the life too, the sadness...). So, again: THANK YOU for "Dive" and go on!
gaetano

I saw other music on your web site (cassette of "the slow grape") and it's seem to be a little bit hard to get this. So, is it possible by the "french contact" or by other ? Thank you, Kind regards
Nicolas

Sophie your record Dive is a marvel of poetry, life and beauty.
jean

Hey Sophie, I'm British, living in the states and found you while I was surfing the web a long while ago. I just wanted to let you know that what itsays about you wanting to get your music out there, it has helped me a lot. I find it easy to listen to your lyrics I don't know what it is about your words, they just seem to reach me on a better level than the shallow sap that's being sold these days over here in the US of A. I'm hoping to receive information about your albums soon, so I can bring your music into my area and if no one else, at least satisfy my own need for an amazing sound. A safe year to you, Sophie.

I must thank you for your wonderful, bautiful, exceptional concert the 30/11 in Toulouse. It was the best i've ever gone. You've got an amazing voice and you know how to use it to transmit emotions. You were just in front of me and i was really captivated. I'd like you come back near Toulouse and play longuer than tonight. I don't know how to explain what i've feel during the concert but it was wonderful (easy time).I'm to far in my dreams (were you or your songs are probably) to write more. thanks again for your concert, for your music and for the state into which i've dive listening you.

hello from the Fall in Basel. I just was listening to the number 7 -I believe, of "Dive", in my car, this morning, arround 6.28, and you were singing about the blue in the sky and 8.28. And it was dark, and I just had a beautiful weekend, making the wine harvest at friends winemakers in swiss-french part. And this weekend I felt so quite, so well, like when it was a long time ago, maybe when I was 15 and everything looked so easy. And this morning, going back up there in the german part of Switzerland, in the dark, facing the mountains, the day coming up, the sky showing mountains slowly, your song was just perfect, and giving some strength, just with that quiet song...

I obtained your e-mail address in seeing it on your album "Dive". My boyfriend made me listen to your music because I had never heard of you before. I can say that I really fell in love with your music ! I can't sleep if in the day I didn't listen to it. It's really like a drug.

I was at the Virgin (in Paris), I saw your disc and he said to me that it was among Kate Bush and Tori Amos. So I bought it quickly. My first big musical love was the beautiful Kate. I am a singer (I try to beone !), and this experience revelated me so many things. In 1992, I discovered Tori in a very difficult period of my existence, and it also completely changed my life ! Now, there is a perfect trilogy, of which the ultimate element is Sophie Moleta. Your music is bare, but filled with an impressive sound density !
It is difficult to explain feelings about he sound. And it is useless to sayto you that I LIKE so much what you make...
